For my civilian friends, this means that I got the day off for being sick today. The sinus/allergy/cold thing I've had for the past few days has not subsided, so while I was at the hospital today doing my 28-week follow up (even though I don't officially hit my 28th week until Thursday), I figured I'd complain about my symptoms and get a prescription for medicine from the OB. While I was at the OB, I got to hear the baby's heartbeat another time (she's alive and kickin'!) and took the one-hour glucose test. I'd heard some nasty things about the sugary cocktail they have you drink when you do it. And it wasn't all that bad. It tasted like pedialyte to me (and don't ask me how I know what pedialyte tastes like!). Coincidentally,
my co-worker Laura had her OB follow up at the same time and she waited the hour with me until I had to have my blood drawn. Isn't she sweet?
After the blood draw, I was still feeling miserably sick and opted to go home (thanks to my boss for letting me do that). I've been here ever since taking naps off and on. And in between, I've been watching the movies I rented. Let me just say, that if you haven't seen the movie, Hachi, featuring Richard Gere, you really have to. If you loved Marley & Me, you will love this movie too....and probably cry even more than you did during that movie. At least I cried a lot.
It was fabulous, and is another heartwarming story of a dog so loyal to his master, even after his (Richard Gere's) death. There, I've pretty much given it away, but you still have to see it. After this, I cuddled up with my own Hachi on the floor for about a good half hour. She's just as loyal and cute. I love you Lucy!

Anyway, in the middle of watching my movies and TV, the hospital called to let me know that the lab results showed a rather high glucose level in my blood. Now I have to return to the hospital sometime this week to do the 3-hour glucose screening. Yikes! That means I have to fast for 12 hours the day before and then have more blood drawn over a three-hour period. These people must be kidding me. I am not looking forward to it. But anything to ensure that the baby and I are safe and healthy.
At the moment, I am hooked on re-runs of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Now, I don't watch any reality TV shows, but I just happened to stumble upon this one a few months ago. Tonight is the season 2 premiere of the show and I am dying to see it. I wish I had DVR...because it'll take a lot for me to stay awake to watch it. Is anyone else out there going to be watching it with me?
So although I'm miserable being sick, it hasn't been too bad of a day off. But really...sinus/allergy/cold--GO AWAY!!!
