Another Person's Junk...

...is now my treasure!

There was a community-wide flea market this morning and Sina and I went to check it out before heading to the commissary to do some Thanksgiving dinner shopping.  Had Malu been there, I probably would have walked away with tons more stuff (darn you, drill!).  Since I had Sina and the huge stroller, I could only buy as much as the stroller and my one free arm could hold.  There was one table in particular that had all kinds of household items and Christmas decorations.  I walked away with these.

And wouldn't you agree that no kid's room is complete without at least one giant stuffed animal?

This girl's got mama wrapped around her chubby little fingers.  I also got a really cute duck-shaped timer for the kitchen.  I got everything for like $8.

Other than that, it's been a rather typical Saturday.  We ended up going to the commissary twice today because the first time, I realized I didn't have my shopping list with me.  Fail.  I grabbed what I remembered from the list and went home.  Sina took about a three-hour nap and we hit the commissary again.  She loves going there.  It's quite the happenin' place to be on Patch Barracks and we run into familiar faces everytime we go.  Sina loves all the attention she gets from the cashiers too.

As I'm typing this, I'm watching Eclipse for the millionth time.  Breaking Dawn doesn't hit our post theater until Thanksgiving Day, but it will inevitably be at max capacity that day and I don't think I can stomach it, really.  It'll be a while before I actually see it.  There are theaters in town that air movies in English.  I might have to go that route.

Malu comes back from drill tomorrow evening, so it's me and my Sina for another day.  We'll be making Thanksgiving cupcakes for her classmates.  They'll be chocolate cupcakes topped with little pilgrim hats.  Too cute!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Fill in the Blank Friday

I haven't done this blog link-up in ages.  If you're interested, head over to Lauren's blog, The Little Things We Do, and link up!

1. My favorite new blog of the moment is Casey's Blog,  We Took the Road Less Traveled Casey is an Air Force wife stationed with her beau here in Germany!  Who knows, maybe our paths will cross someday!
2. Something I am thankful for are the Veterans past and present that we honor today.

3. Something that made me laugh this week was  this video (which most have probably seen on Facebook).  We love our little girl and her giggles!

4. An item that is currently on my wish list is one of those fancy, good cameras.  I also wouldn't mind getting my own Keurig for the house.
5. I am excited about  this long weekend.  We currently have reservations at Spangdalem Air Base, which is minutes away from Trier (Roman Ruins) and the Mosel Valley.

6. If I were a color I would be  yellow.  I like to think that others think I have a sunny personality.

7. My favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is by  enjoying some pumpkin spiced coffee or some comfort food (i.e. chili) while cuddling on the couch with Malu and watching movies.

Happy Friday and Happy Veterans Day to All!

Miss Cranky Pants

Sina took four steps on her own this afternoon--that's double the amount of steps she took last week!  Immediately after that, we tried to get her to do it again, only on camera so that we could post it for her grandparents to see on video.  Umm....it didn't work out so well.  Instead of capturing a video clip of her taking a few steps, we got one of her chewing us out--or at least that's what it sounded like.  A chewing out (after getting momentarily distracted by a water bottle) and a plea for us to stop.

So of course we stopped.  But boy, is she adorable when she complains!

Wow...this weekend seemed to fly by.  It was a pretty good one.  Yesterday, I made almost $100 at the flea market.  I took a lot of our junk out there to sell.  It was held right outside our PX.  The event started at 10:00 and one German lady decided that she wanted to clean me out and buy all the good jewelry I had.  By 10:30, I was left with only a few good pieces and still managed to get rid of some other stuff like name-brand shoes and jeans that I hardly wore, and some dresses, shirts and other stuff.  I was told by a few ladies that I had the best prices out there which made me feel really good.  I mean, when I go to a flea market (which I love to do), I usually don't expect to see anything oer $5, you know, unless there's a good piece of furniture out there.  I sold most jewelry pieces at $1.00 and earrings at $.50.  I don't think I sold anything for more than $3.  I went browsing around at other booths (and there were many; about 60) and I saw things like wicker baskets priced at $10.  Even some of the furniture out there was priced at $80.  For real?

Anyway, the weather was perfect--sunny and warm--right until we closed shop.  Then the clouds rolled in.  But Malu had set up the nice canopy tent that I bought the day before and we enjoyed being out there and visited with some friends who stopped by.  We rested for the rest of the afternoon, then went into town for some dinner.

And today was just church, lounging around, and watching movies at home.  There were scattered showers today anyway.

Can't believe it's a new week already.  Good news is it's a short one which means we need to get crackin' and packin' for our trip to Normandy this weekend!

Anyways...happy Sunday you guys.  And have a blessed week!
