Sneak Peek: London 2012

The good Lord blessed us with a safe and expeditious trip to London and back.  However, we are EXHAUSTED.  Actually, that word doesn't even cover it all.

Anyway, it'll take some time for me to go through the gazillion photos I took although, truth be told, I left my good camera at our "flat" (ha ha, I still love saying that!) on the first day of our trip (the same day we woke up super extra early just to get to the airport on time), ended up using my iPhone only to have it die not even an hour later.   Still, I have dozens of photos from yesterday and will rely on my marvelous travel companions for the remaining photos.

Until then, you can enjoy this small sneak peek (which I posted to Facebook earlier tonight)...

I'll tell you guys all about it once I catch my breath (because it's back to the grind in the a.m.--ugh!).

All this craziness over London...one thing still remains...I miss Malu badly and so does his little princess.  We missed sharing this fabulous experience with you, babe!

Have a great day everyone!

Vacay w/the Parentals: Day 1

I'm finally getting around to posting about my 10-day vacation with my mom and dad.  Part of the reason why it's taken so long is because I've got a zillion photos that I need to go through and I'm trying not to overload each post with them.  The other part is that I've been way too lazy.  In any case...what a vacation!  It totally went by in a flash and, as I mentioned the other day, I am still trying to recover from it.  As a matter of fact, I informed my boss that I needed leave from my leave!  I mean, when your parents only have 10 days in Europe and there are bunches of places you want them to see, it can make for an exciting but exhausting time.

I mean, the day that they landed, we hit the ground running.  Seriously.  They arrived in Stuttgart at 0900...and off we went.  After the airport, we dropped off their bags at the house and Malu too, because he had to go back to work.  I immediately rushed them off to Panzer Kaserne to get them registered as visitors and then stopped by the PX for a few things.  After that, I figured that since we were nearby, I'd take them to Ritter Sport Chocolate Factory so that mom could stock up on the chocolates she wanted to bring back home with her.

Here we are at the entrance to the Schokolade (or chocolate) store...

My mom reacted kinda the same way I did when she entered--like a 5-year old going to Disney World for the first time.  She seriously didn't know what to do and it was funny because there were a million flavors in there, but she seemed to kept picking the same flavor in all sizes (hazelnut).  I had to help her throw some others in her basket.

Um...I don't think she went overboard at all.

There's a cafe adjacent to the store with outdoor seating and lovely landscaping.  We had to stop for a few pictures in front of the pretty flowers.  My parents were lucky.  Pretty much their entire stay in Europe we had beautiful, sunny weather.  Sunny days are a rarity, in Stuttgart at least.

No kidding...that evening, we departed for Garmish-Partenkirchen--about a 3 hour drive away.  We took off after Malu got off from work, but first stopped by for dinner at our favorite spot (where we love to take our visitors)--the Schonbuch Brau Brauhaus.

We wanted to kick off their visit with a fabulous German dinner (Swabian style).  This restaurant serves a fantastic dinner-for-four, complete with steak, pork, bratwurst, oven potatoes, sauerkraut and cheese spatzle (cheese noodles).  They were impressed and we totally chowed down!

Here's my daddy enjoying his first beer in Germany (well, first one in a long time.  The last time he'd been in Germany was in the late 70s when he was stationed here.)

I had to play with this photo just so you guys could see us.  It was kinda dark in there.  See our buffet-style meal?  Yummy!

Right after that gigundo meal, we were on the road.  Thanks to my dear hubby, we made it to Garmisch safely and in good time, considering how late our trip started.

As I'm closing this, I'm missing my parents so badly and wish that their stay didn't come to an end so quickly.  But I have tons more great moments to share with you guys.

More on Garmisch next time!

Getting to Know You...on Saturday!

Well, Keely at http://www.mannland.com/ pushed GTKY to today so that we could have a break on Mother's Day. What a great idea. Most people will be busy anyway. And you guys know what to do if you want to participate!

Copy, paste and answer these questions into your own blog post and go to Keely's to get linked!

1. What has been your most memorable Mother's Day? (with your mom, as a mom, or with your wife)? I'm sad to admit that I don't remember any specific Mother's Day with my mommy, although I do remember a time or two when my brother, sister and I made her breakfast on our own when we were old enough to do it. I've been away from home for so long, that I only remember sending cards and flowers. I bet next Mother's Day will be memorable though, seeing how it'll be my first. Oh, and thanks to my friend Laura at work...she left a gift of Burt's Bees lotions, lip gloss, and an amazing leg and foot creme that makes you tingle all over. She gave me a card that said, "Happy Mother's Day! It's your first and only one where you get to sleep in! Enjoy!" She's so awesome!

2. Have you ever been pulled over for speeding and were you able to talk your way out of it? Yes and I can't talk my way out of a ticket to save my life. My husband, on the other hand, has gotten out of every ticket he has been pulled over for. I don't know how he does it.

3. What's the oldest thing you have hanging in your closet? Not sure, but I know that I have a few shirts that date way back to college.

4. Do you whiten your teeth? No, although I've been told I have the whitest teeth ever. But I do use a toothpaste that happens to have a whitening agent.

5. Underwear or Panties..What do you call your "unmentionables"? I say "underwear".

6. If you could go on vacation right now..today..where would you go? Disney World or any place with a beach!

7. Do you get offended when people cuss on their blogs? Not really. Don't see any blogs with much cussing.
8. If you had to give up one luxury item, it would be....? OMG...I'd never give up my cell phone or this computer. So I'll go with the flat screen TV in my livingroom!

I had planned to do some cleaning but I. just. don't. feel. like. it. Oh, I'm so bad. Happy Saturday everyone!
