Today, we (along with the Finch Family) were supposed to head to the Nurnberg for the last day of their annual Christmas market. We had originally planned to go to their church's Christmas Eve candlelight service after Nurnberg, but we had a hunch that we weren't going to return in time. So church was kind of out of the question for tonight.
God works in mysterious ways, I tell you. While making a stop at the gas station on our way to Nurnberg, our friends realized that the Christmas market closed at 2:00 p.m. today. It was almost 4:00 by then. We missed it. So, we ended up making the service after all. I had a hunch that God wanted us at church this evening. And I know that my heart wanted to be there as well. I felt such comfort as I sat there with my daughter, my husband and our close friends. And it was very reminiscent of all other candlelight services I spent with my family in years past and made me feel closer to them. Boy, do I miss them.
Thanks to God for reminding us to always keep the "Christ" in Christmas. Thanks to God for loving us so much that He sent us the best gift we could ever receive--His Son, Jesus. May the Lord continue to bless you and your families this holiday season and always.
Frohe Weihnacten!
